Okay, where did January go?

Seriously, it was like it was here, and everybody was like "Happy New Year" and stuff, and now it's almost February. Well, good riddance January. You bring us bad weather and I'm over it. I was so happy just to go to work today and get out of the house. I was starting to feel a little cabin fever. Here's what I don't get...

When I'm working all the time, I think to myself, "Wow, it would be so awesome to have a few days off, so I could do this, and I could do that". I envision all the fantastic things I would get done... things to organize, such as cleaning out the closet, or putting together an e-mail for my clients, try and get a little more business going at work. Then I think about relaxing, just sitting on the couch, laying in bed, getting caught up on all my shows and movies on the DVR. Well, I didn't do much of anything while being forced inside due to the weather. I was bored. I did get on the treadmill yesterday and today. Since we don't have DVR in the bedroom, and Clint was home from work hogging the living room TV, I didn't watch a single movie I have on the DVR. I spent too much time on my stupid computer. I couldn't believe how happy I was to go to work today. I was a waxing machine. For a few hours anyway.

I'm definitely looking forward to February. It's Valentines Day, it's Clint's b-day, and our anniversary... all within 5 days of each other! It probably won't be too terribly exciting, but it sounds fun, doesn't it? It's also my Mom's B-day and my grandma's b-day. That makes 5 things within 10 days. I like busy months!

I'd like to think I get better with age.

The other night, Saturday night, my friend Phoebe and I got together with an old friend of ours from college, Renae. P and I were roommates our freshman year in the dorms, as well as friends from high school. Renae lived on the same floor, directly across from our suitemates. We became fast friends and had a lot of great times together. Neither Phoebe nor myself had seen Renae in probably 13 or 14 years? Well, thanks to the fabulous technology of Myspace and Facebook, we made plans to have a little reunion before P leaves for China. So naturally, I felt the urge to post a couple of old pics as well as a few pics from the other night. I would like to think that we have all aged in a fantastic way - actually, I know we have! This pic was taken in '95 - in the hallway between our dorm rooms. Embarrassing, yes - but too funny not to post!

This one of me and P was taken in our apartment, I think it was '96 or '97? Man, I loved that leather jacket! And those pants!

Okay, now flash forward to the other night. A nice, low-key, non-drunken night. A few drinks, a little food, fun conversation... I love being a grown-up!

I have good news, too! Clint and I spent Sunday night putting my new treadmill together! I was a little worried that it wouldn't fit in the bedroom where I wanted it, but it fit perfectly! I love that it has speakers, so I can attach my Ipod and not have to worry about headphones or earplugs. Since I'm snowed and iced in today, I'm definitely working out later. Woo-hoo!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm! Don't get out and drive unless you have to, it's nasty out there! Clint fell on our back patio and busted his ass. It looked like it hurt! Clyde got scared and ran back inside the house. Hayden thought he was down there to play with him, and just tried to shove a football in his face. I didn't know if it was okay to laugh or not, so I just stood there for a second, not quite sure what to do. An hour later, and his arm still hurts. Hopefully, it's just a bruise!

why can't I decide... and bye, bye W!

why can't I decide on a stupid blog background?! Why do I keep changing it? Why can't I pick one and just be happy? Why do I want pizza for lunch when I know a salad would be a much better option? Wow. I should blog about what I eat every day. Just kidding, I won't put you through that torture.

So, I'm taking off this afternoon to watch the Presidential Inauguration. I've never watched one before. Maybe because since I first began voting back in 2000, the men I voted for got screwed. I mean Al Gore mainly. Because even though I voted for John Kerry, he wasn't my top Democratic choice. I just didn't have any other choice. But this is cause for a celebration! Bye, bye Bush! I will not miss you.

Anyway... back to my point! This is all very exciting! I'm watching history being made. I can't imagine actaully being there. There are SO MANY people, I would probably have an anxiety attack, or pee my pants waiting for a port-o-potty. I heard the ratio is 400 people per potty. I would not be down with that. Not to mention how cold it is. I'm also not down with wearing six layers of clothing to keep warm.

Hopefully you get to watch all this excitement, too! Hope you set your DVR's!

Who wants to come over...

and put together my treadmill?! Yes, the treadmill I got for Christmas is still in the box. Last week, Clint was a little out of commission with a three dislocated ribs. After a couple visits to the chiropracter, he's feeling stronger, but the treadmill is still in the garage, in the box. It's not something I can really do by myself, the box weighs a zillion pounds, and I'm sure tools are required for assembly. And just so ya know, if tools are required, count me out. There's a good chance I'll just hurt myself in the process.

I love Mondays. My day off! Usually I have the day to myself, but since today is MLK Day, I'm sharing the day off with boyfriend. He gets to watch me do laundry, dishes, and all kinds of fun stuff! The great part is he sleeps much later than me, so I'm trying to get some of it out of the way with him out of the way. I've got laundry going, and I've already cleaned the bathroom. I've balanced my checkbook, and fed both the animals. And I've had breakfast! It's amazing what you can get done when you wake up at 8:30 on your day off.

Waking up early and being productive leads me to a big realization. I'm so over going out and staying up late. I went out Saturday night and I was ready to go home by before midnight. Instead I stayed out later than what I wanted and felt like poop the next day. That's just not where I am anymore, and I'm happy about that! Being the sober one at the bar just makes me realize how foolish I must've looked throughout most of my 20's. All I know is, I like my 30's - so far it's been pretty great.

My favorite time of year. Sad, really.

So, I was notified today that it's been a while since I last blogged. I was missed! Even though I haven't posted in a while, I've been keeping up with everyone else's blogs. I guess there's nothing I've really felt like blogging about. But I can update you on what's been going on in my life.

My friend Phoebe is in town until the first of February, then she's leaving for China. To live. For at least a year. We've been spending lots of quality time together while she's here, and I honestly forgot how exhausting it is to have a social life. It's been so much fun though, and I love spending time with my friends. As long as Phoebe doesn't make jello shots, we'll be just fine.

Oh, okay, so the title of my blog. Why is this my favorite time of the year, you ask. And what's so sad about it? I'm about to admit what a big nerd I am, but that's okay. I LOVE American Idol. LOVE. IT. I love it all, the whole process. I know a lot of people that just like the auditions, and some people that just like it when it gets narrowed down to the final 12 or final 6. I love it all. The good, the bad, the ugly. Hollywood week might be my favorite. I already have a few favorites - I love the rocker chick with pink and blonde hair who sang Barracuda for her audition. She's giving up a tour in Europe with her band to be on the show. And there's the music teacher who just lost his wife to a heart defect four weeks before auditioning. He didn't sound at all like I expected - those are always my favorites - the ones where you go "who knew they could sing?".

In other television news - Friday Night Lights season 3 just premiered on NBC last night. Season 3 started exclusive to Direct TV, so I've already seen all the episodes they will be showing. But if you don't have Direct TV, and you enjoyed seasons 1 and 2, you better set your DVR's! I think FNL is one of the BEST shows out there.

The Biggest Loser also started almost three weeks ago. How can you not like this show? It makes me cry every time. So inspiring. So motivational. Which brings me to my weight loss journey. I set some goals for myself - I think that slow and steady wins the race. So my first "weigh in" is Feb 3. If I reach my goal, I get to reward myself! And the reward will be a one hour massage. If that doesn't motivate me, nothing will. My next weigh in will be March 3, the next April 3. By April, I will have reached my final goal - woo hoo! I'll try and keep you posted with updates - and send positive energy my way. I'll need it as I do my best not to beat someone with a stick until they give me their candy bar.

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009!

I hope everyone had a fabulous time celebrating the end of '08. I know I did. Until about 12:45 am, when I could be found head over toilet bowl. Not too pretty. The funny thing is, we actually had Happy 2000 napkins at the party. So I guess I tried to party like it was literally the year 2000, when I could've probably partied like a rock star. I partied like I was in my twenties. I danced like Y2K was upon us and the world was ending. In my pajamas. In my friend's living room. New Years Resolution #1: Never accept another jello shot. Not one. Especially not five. Or ten.

Okay, so resolutions. I don't usually make them. And I don't really feel like I'm making them this year, but I have set a few goals for myself. I need to lose weight. Pronto. I got a treadmill for Christmas (yeah, my parents rock!), so as soon as that's set up, I'm seriously working out. Seriously. I have no clothes that fit. I have a closet full of pants that are two sizes too small. Not cool. How did this happen? I'm lazy and I eat crap when I'm bored. Next goal... get out my fashion slump. Or "lack of fashion", might be better. I'm tired of not feeling cute! I find myself wearing T-shirts and workout pants way too often. Which would be cool if I had actually been working out. I don't know when I started thinking I was being selfish or arrogant by wanting to look good, but I think that's what happened. And it doesn't help that I have a great boyfriend who likes me skinny or fat, or T-shirts or tunics, but I don't want to be anyone's fat girlfriend! I want to be healthy and happy. And hot! =)

No more fat talk! All in all 2008 was a great year! In February, Clint and had our one year anniversary. That was a first for me! Who knew I'd ever be in a relationship longer than six weeks?! I moved in with him in April, Hayden in tow, then we moved together into the new house in October. I got to attend my first esthetics trade show in Dallas in April, which was awesome. I can't wait to go again in 2009. I attended two OU home games, one with my girl Reese, her boyfriend Brad, and my Clinton. The other I went with my little brother Daniel and a few of his friends. The holidays were great, other than me being sick at Thanksgiving, and Clint sick at Christmas. I had some quality lake time with my old school girls during the 4th of July weekend. What else? We got DVR! I still love my job! I love my friends, my dog, my Clint! So much to be grateful for! 2008 was great, 2009 is only going to get better! At the top of the wish list is a vacation of some sort. Even a weekend getaway would suffice. Just get me out of Oklahoma for a few days and I'll be a happy camper. No, not a happy camper. Camping would NOT be fun. I'd be a happy vacationer. A happy tourist. A happy girl!
