that's how long it's taken me to walk it! I walked three miles around the neighborhood this morning. I finished right as it was really beginning to heat up outside. It was a beautiful morning for anything outdoors.
(Actually I walked the last 5 minutes inside, on the treadmill!)
So that bumps my June total miles up to 22.7, meaning if I walk another 3 miles tomorrow, I will have walked 25.7 miles, which is practically a marathon. I know I blogged about this yesterday, but I'm still blown away by the fact that people can do it in an afternoon. And I did it in a month.
(Go Callie, with your bad self.)
Next time you see me, I will have buns of steel.

Do people actually run marathons?
Of course, I already know the answer to that question. Maybe I should ask... who in their right mind would ever run a marathon? Actually, I already know the answer to that question, too. I have friends that run marathons. I think they are all crazy. Because here's the deal. A marathon is like 26 miles or something ridiculous. I just started taking little walks around the neighborhood with little bursts of a jog here and there, and my entire miles for the month of June don't even tally 26 miles. According to my Ipod, my total miles for June are 19.7 miles. And that took me almost 5 hours to accomplish. Okay, so I broke it up week by week, and every week does show an improvement. So I have that. Oh - and I've lost a whole pound since I've started this, too. A whole pound.
Honestly, I kind of feel like giving up. Sometimes I feel like maybe I'm just meant to be a short, chubby gal. But here's the deal. I'm NOT giving up! At least not right now. I just keep trying to focus on how I feel, and not what the scale says. Here are my stats for the month of June(by week):
(I didn't start walking again until the second week)
Week Two: 4.92 miles
Week Three: 6.44 miles
Week Four: 8.32 miles
I'm still tracking my food on fitday.com and it's definitely helping me see where I need to change a few things. Other than that, life is good. We've got so many people around town shooting off fireworks already, and we can see quite a few from our house. The dog goes crazy, running around the backyard and barking every time the people next door or behind us let some pop. He ran around so crazy last night that he slept like a little log! I can still hear him breathing and panting so heavy, and he's been inside fifteen minutes already. I would take a picture, but I need batteries for my camera. I'm so bad about buying batteries. Why is it that every time I need batteries for something, I always forget to buy them on my next run to the store! Anybody else do that?

Okay, so I will not be boring you with details of my day to day food consumption after all. That's because I have found a nifty little place online called FitDay.com. It's an online journaling site where you can track your food consumption, calories, fat, carbs, calcium, vitamins, and so much more. It's definitely got its pros and cons, but after seeing my nutritional factors on a pie chart, I might be hooked! I can tell you for sure, I was a little above the charts on my carbs and sugars today. I gotta work on that...
I'm off to Ponca City for a wedding tomorrow. I'm leaving after work, so it will be a busy day. Then Sunday I'm off to Lions Park to see Hosty Duo. I love live music in the park! Good times are always had by all.
Hope all my blog readers (all three of you) have a fabulous weekend!

Do I have to have a title?
Because I can't think of anything sharp or witty. Especially when I'm about to tell you things that aren't all that exciting. I went walking again today. Another two miles. It was so freaking hot, I walked 20 minutes outside, then came in and did 10 minutes on the treadmill. Before that, I attempted a yoga workout I DVR'd off of FitTV, but it was kind of a joke. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, and I kept looking at the TV to see what was going on. And I realized I have no upper body strength. No wonder Madonna has arms of steel. That damn downward dog is harder than it looks. I know I did NOT look graceful like the lady on TV. I'll probably give it another shot though.
Would it be weird if I told you what I ate today? I'm thinking if I tell people what I eat, maybe I won't eat like a crazy person. I'm willing to try anything. If it helps me eat better, I'll do it. Kind of like a food journal, only for the world to see. Here goes:
Breakfast: Handful of raw almonds and a Naked Juice.
Lunch: Veggie Burger from Johnnie's and small order of fries. I have to say, it didn't feel like a small order. I got a LOT of fries. And they were yummy.
Dinner: Baked potato with butter, sprinkled Mexican blend cheese, and a ton of pico.
Snack: Spicy baby dill pickles. I didn't know they were spicy until I put one in my mouth. They are amazing, though. They made my face turn a little pink. Yummy!
I guess now you can see how vegetarians eat. Although I have started to eat a little fish here and there, so I feel like a shady vegetarian. I'll save that for another blog, though.

I'm a walking junkie...
I've been walking/jogging 4 times in the last week!
And I haven't had a single mini chocolate teddy graham!
I made the mistake of stepping on the scale today and that certainly did NOT make me good about myself. I think the scale might need to move itself out in the garage or somewhere other than the bathroom. Maybe the dumpster?
I really enjoy walking outside, but it's almost too hot outside now. Tonight I went one lap around our circle before it got completely dark, then finished up on the treadmill. It was nice to mix it up like that. I wish I could be one of those crazy people who wakes up at the crack of dawn every morning and hits the pavement. I have a client who is doing a bootcamp in her neighborhood. They meet at 5:30 every morning. That's just crazy talk if you're asking me.
On a totally random note - the boyfriend is accusing me of moving his fingernail clippers. I don't use fingernail clippers. I work in a salon, people clip for me. I wish you could see how dramatic he's being, making so much noise, and going through the drawers. Very amusing stuff.

Back at it...
I went on a walk around the neighborhood tonight and logged over 2 miles. We took Hayden dog for part of it, but he wears out kinda quick in his old age. He had a really good walk today, because we came across a mini doxie, then later a neighbor lady and her little daughter. I'm going to be super sore tomorrow, I can already tell. I guess that's what I get for being such a lazy butt lately. The good news is, I bought a new sensor for my Ipod that records all my workout data. I think things kinda fell apart when my old sensor died... so hopefully this will inspire me to get back on the bandwagon.
I've recently become addicted to So You Think You Can Dance. It makes me wish I had taken dance when I was a kid, but I chose gymnastics. And I was a terrible gymnast. I wonder if I would've been a better dancer. Probably not. I think I'm a good dancer when I've consumed enough alcohol. I have a feeling I'm not the only person that thinks that way, though.
The boyfriend wants to go to a Star Trek convention in Tulsa later this month. I can't think of a more miserable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Or a more miserable way to spend $20. My idea of a perfect Sunday is this... brunch with mimosas. That never really happens, though. Or live music in the park with an ice chest full of cold beer, which will be happening June 21. I can't drag him to the park for music, but he wants to drag me to a Star Trek convention. What's wrong with this picture?
I love summertime! Mondays at the pool, here I come! I'm ready for Denver and it's a month away. Until then, I'll hopefully be a walking junkie and try to squeeze myself into last years swimsuit.

They say you are what you eat...
so the next time you see me, I might be a mini chocolate Teddy Graham.
If you've read any of my past blogs, you should know I have a chocolate addiction. Or, I guess you could say I have a sugar addiction. Even better, it's really a food addiction. So it's probably not a good idea to go online and order mini chocolate teddy grahams in bulk just because it's cheaper. But that's precisely what the boyfriend did. He actually bought them for himself. I had never had a chocolate teddy graham before this large internet order. But these words were exchanged between us last night...
Me: "You want a Teddy Graham?" (as I lean over and hand him a bag...)
The boyfriend: "Do you have TWO bags of teddy grahams?!"
Yeah. Busted. But to be fair, the first bag only had a few left... so I had to open a new bag, right? I just can't resist these cute little guys.

While browsing the internet for a chocolate teddy graham picture, I found someone who said that they enjoy chocolate teddy grahams on apple slices with peanut butter. That kind of sounds amazing. Yumm-o! I'm gonna go try it now.
